Artist, Hide Tanner, Wood Carver, Fur Trade Historian
When people ask me what I do for a living, it's difficult to sum it up in one simple occupation, but I guess if I had to it would be, artist. My art spans many mediums but what largely influences all of my work is an interest in the past. Whether I am tanning deer skins, carving wooden figures, painting murals, hand sewing moccasins, scythe mowing fields or making fires with a primitive hand-drill, my inspiration comes from a constant desire to understand more deeply, what life was like for our ancestors in the distant past. This interest in survival skills, history and hand crafts informs my work.
